fivecubans
An aircraft explodes in the air. Bombs, fires, attacks in Havana..
Who is striking Cuba ?
Miami, the very honorable “Foundation” and a few gloomy characters (Luis Posaril, Dr Orlando, Jorge Maskano, Pepper Nandez, Santiago Alfares), are possessed by the same obsession: Killing Fidel Castro.
1990’s : At the instigation center of information services of the island, five young Cubans exile in Florida. Acting clandestinely, taking risks, they infiltrate the criminal networks of the “Foundation”. The quality of information they collect allows Havana to pass on to the FBI an exhaustive file revealing the identity of the silent partners of the terrorist operations, which were led against Cuba from the American territory. But these five agents are the ones the FBI will arrest. Judged in Miami, -capital of the “ultras” of counter-revolution- here they are, after a grotesque trial, sentenced to disproportionate punishments for having “spied” the United States.
Involving Cubans from the island and cubanos from Miami, famous characters (Fidel Castro, George Bush father and son, Bill Clinton), anonymous narcotraficants, agents from the CIA, and taking the reader on a trip from Cuba to Angola, from central America to the Soviet Union through the United States, this panting novel should be entirely imaginary. And yet… The author makes us remember the story of five Cubans imprisoned –Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, René Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, and reveals us one of the most scandalous judiciary issue of our time.
